What is the difference between modular and manufactured homes?
Modular homes are built in sections at a factory but constructed to the same local building codes as site-built houses, then assembled on a permanent foundation. Manufactured homes are also factory-built, but follow a federal HUD code instead and remain on a permanent steel chassis, a difference that affects financing, appreciation, and resale value.
